Killerney Farm offers lessons from qualified instructors and coaches. Unless you own or lease your own horse we are very limited to lesson horses as being a lesson facility is not our focus. Many of our riders at Killerney Farm are also training and being coached by knowledgeable and qualified instructors.

Our Devoted Riding Staff

Erika Crone:

Flat work has always been a passion of Erika's since day 1.  Coming from a jumper background before moving into the dressage world, Erika understands what is required for the jumper ring.  Having competed in hunter/jumpers at the Pacific National Exhibition, Trillium Circuit and at the famed Royal Dublin Society in Ireland, Erika turned her sights onto the dressage ring in the 80’s.  Erika competed in FEI Levels of Dressage on three different mounts and was long listed for the Canadian Team for Pan American Games in Winnipeg. Before competing further that year her beloved mount Lucas was sold to Ontario buyers and he continued competing in Ontario and the USA.  Focusing on developing the dedicated rider, Erika only accepts a few students per year.

Kathleen Schirmaier:

Beginner, Hunter/Jumper

Kathleen has a background of jumpers that started in competitions in Ireland and continued here in Canada.  Competing through the Junior Jumpers and up into the 1.20m’s.  Kathleen rode with respected horsemen and women such as members of the Ross familly,  Michel Vaillancourt, Mark Laskin, as well as her own father who had shown in National Jumping Competitions at the Royal and Madison Square Gardens.   Her speciality is introducing the young rider to the world of horses and moving them through the levels of competition and riding.  Focusing on individual lessons for the beginner rider and then introducing them to group atmosphere is a priority.  Pushing riders beyond their comfort zone but not ability is her belief.

Casey Dermott:

Hi there, my name is Casey Dermott, I am a dressage rider and coach and I'm so happy to be a part of the Killerney Farm family. I grew up riding in the local Pony Club, where I competed in international PPG, national quizzes, rallies, and tetrathlon. I grew up with an upper-level eventer as a sister, so I have some roots in the eventing community where I have several students competing through the CCI ** level, including at the North American Young Riders Championships and other major event sites such as Galway Downs in California. I believe in creating happy horses that understand what the rider is asking of them.

Helping a horse and rider understand each other clearly is really what I believe in, and is the first step to a great partnership. As a dressage rider, I have had the opportunity to ride and train with such amazing International riders like Penny Zavitz-Rockx and Johan Rockx in Essen Belgium, Shannon Peters, Ulf Moëller, Daniel Booker, Bonny Bonnello, Albrecht Heidemann, and local Grand Prix riders Sharon Merkell Beattie and Lindsey Stroh. I am currently riding the horses bred and purchased by Royle Farm, and will be competing them through the FEI levels this season. I am looking forward to the 2016 season, and wish everyone a safe and successful competition season full of wonderful rides and happy horses.
